Jan Knox works in mixed water-based
media on both canvas and paper. She
paints with watercolor, acrylic,
ink, pencils and sometimes adds
collage. Her inspiration comes
from her training as a geologist and
her travels. Nature in all its
brilliant colors and textures are the
subjects of her paintings. The
emotions and memories of the
wondrous sights of the world ---
such as an erupting volcano,
snowclad peaks, the rainforests, the
deserts, icebergs off Antarctica and
man's interaction with these remote
places, all inspire the heart.
She paints from memory, photographs
and on location in Texas and the
southwest. She has been a
professional artist for over thirty
years, and is based in Austin,
Texas.
