Delda Skinner is adjunct professor of pastoral ministry and graduate of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest and professional exhibiting artist.  She is on the Board of Directors of the Albuquerque based Society of Layerists in MultiMedia, founder and past president of the First Frontier Collage Society, Austin, TX, a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Los Angeles, CA, the National Collage Society, Hodson, OH, and The Women in the Visual and Literary Arts, Houston, TX. 

Her paintings have been published in eleven art books and an essay she wrote, "Spiritual Essence of Art", appears in Bridging Time and Space:  Essays on Layered Art.  She has taught in all levels of public and private schools and presented art and faith seminars for many years.  Her paintings are in collections in the United States, Mexico and England.  In 2001 she was invited to Los Angeles to exhibit her work with Walt Disney Imagineers. 

She has a M.A.P.M., The Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, B.A., Dominican Collage, B.B.A., Baylor University, A years graduate study, Oblate Seminary and studied art in Florence, Italy at the Instituto del Arte. 

Delda is a fourth generation Texan, married 54 years, has 4 children and 6 grandchildren, and now lives and paints in Austin, Texas.

Artist Statement

“I have always been intrigued by how my faith, beliefs, and life experiences on a conscious and/or subconscious level affect the tenor of my work.  This translates into symbols, shapes, and colors that I come back to over and over again.  I usually paint and collage in layers, in between the layers I insert prayers, blessings and names.  I feel that this adds positive spiritual energy to the universal dialogue that is forever taking place.  It is a very special thing to bring into being a work of art that is unique and has the ability to evoke thoughts, feelings responses and reactions from anyone who visually comes into contact with it.  There are no language or cultural barriers in art.   The viewer connects with the art work and there is an understanding which leads to an in depth relationship.”
