Bobbie Markeson was born in Nebraska where she had the opportunity to spend many weekends on a friend’s farm. She found the landscapes both peaceful and exciting as she stored memories of shape and color.  She moved to the Southwest in 1960 and began a serious art career.  The colors were brighter, the country more vast, storms came and went, and she was thrilled by intense light and changing skies.

Bobbie is very color oriented and often breaks “the rules” of color, perspective and shape. She sees landscapes in abstract form with an expressionist approach.  When painting figures, she uses the same vibrant colors but a more realistic approach.

Bobbie has a BFA from the University of Nebraska. She has studied with acclaimed artists in Texas, has taught individual and group workshops, has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the U.S and has participated in juried shows.  Her work can currently be seen in galleries in Taos, Santa Fe, and San Antonio.  She is one of our very best!
