Sun City Texas

Liz began her career in art by illustrating the margins of her fourth grade text books and the pages of her Big Chief tablets. Her first art teachers were Chester Gould and Al Capp in the Sunday comics.
Drafting classes were the art training available in high school, and perhaps contributed to the aptitude tests’ results directing Liz to a career in mechanical engineering. However, the decision was made to attend Cottey College and later the University of Arkansas where Liz earned a baccalaureate degree in liberals art with a major in graphic art.
The next step was Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri. This experience provided a wonderful opportunity to learn watercolor in a disciplined environment.
After marriage and two children Liz taught high school art in Garland High School. During this time Liz earned her MFA degree in art history at Southern Methodist University.
A move to southern California in 1989 afforded the opportunity in paint the coastal environment. After 14 years spent in Laguna Niguel the Hobbs chose to retire to beautiful Sun City Texas.
Her art
work is in many private collections from
Kansas,
Arkansas,
California, and
Texas. The Lido Gallery in
Newport Beach represented her art and pieces are part of the
corporate collection of Control Components, Inc. In Rancho Santa Margarita.
