Feature Artist  January 2007

Charlene Gallagher moved to Sun City in October 2004 from Houston, Texas. Years before that, she learned the basics of oil painting from a local artist and teacher, Shalle Cozac, who taught some techniques used by the old masters.  They painted together with a group of friends and artists. She had to put this aside when she returned to the working world as a secretary for a number of years, until she moved to Sun City. Now that she has the time to paint again, she paints primarily for her own enjoyment and relaxation and enjoys the lessons available locally. She likes to try different subjects and techniques to see if she can create something new and pleasing. She feels that the painting itself is more important than the finished product.  She has worked primarily in oils thus far, but is beginning to experiment with watercolor and other mediums.
